So MAny Of Them

So MAny Of Them

got their start or ended their careers by dropping out after appearing
on the tv show "Love American Style"(Paramount Television-one hour in length)

Remember that one? It was very popular on daytime television as a daily
rerun in the 80's....
I must admit I havent seen it around lately..perhaps it is out there
somewhere.
It wasn't a great show...jut some random tableaus by random directors..
no regular cast members, but a guest star each week with various tv
stars meandering thru it.The show ran on ABC for about 5 years -
Sept 1969 to JAn 11, 1974, and the premise was the comedy predicaments
that lovers would get themselves into, there were usually a couple of
different stories included in each epsiode. There were also blackout skits.

The theme song is memorable, and that I remember by heart..
I thought I would mention a few people who started or ended their career after eappearing on it.
Foist of all!(first of all, lol)

There was the teenage actress Debbie Watson, who did a lot of tv in the mid 60's but by the time the learly 70's rolled around, she decided she didnt want to be in tv
or movies anymore. so one of the last things she did was "Love Amercian Stryle"
One of the earliest things Cissy Spacek did, was appear on LAS as well
As you all know, she became a very famous actress, her most famous roll
probably being "Carrie"..
Lets look at some of the other people who were on the show...

Larry Kert
Arlene Golonka(remember her?)
Dick Gautier
Henry Gibson
Joe Anne Worley
Carol Wayne
Alice Ghostly
Lou Jacobi
Marilyn Mason
Stafanie Powers
Larry Storch
Rich Little
Jessica WAlter
Paul Winchell
Frank Sutton
Michele Lee
Bob Crane
Yvonne Craig
Edward Andrews
Phyllis Diller Robert Reed...
and many more!
so you see it was a series that a working actor or director could get a
job on, and many did...So if you like the bears and long hair, and the dress
style that was the early 70's.. much of that culture appears here in these tv shows.
I understand the DVD of all the seasons is now available.
